TAMAR RIVER
Species: King George Whiting, Australian Salmon and Kingfish.
The King George Whiting in the Tamar River was the talk of the town last week with a monster 80cm King George Whiting caught! Finding sandy patches in between the weed beds on either side of the river towards the heads an ideal place to try your luck.
Further upstream schools of Australian Salmon have been reported in the bay around the Beauty Point area. Casting and retrieving silver slices your best and easiest chance at landing a feed.
The Farewell beacon at the mouth of the Tamar River was home to schools of Kingfish over the weekend. Trolling skirted lures at higher speeds to avoid the Salmon and other species the way to go.
GREAT LAKE
Species: Brown and Rainbow Trout.
And for the Trout enthusiasts the Great Lake on the central plateau has been fishing well in recent weeks with anglers having great success trolling small winged lures such as Tassie Devils and Tillins on lead line.
