The Tamar River is the place to be this week.
LOW HEAD
Species: Squid – King George Whiting.
Plenty of action around the mouth of the river this week. Huge Squid still being reported as well as King George Whiting.
Also we have been starting to hear reports of the elusive Tamar River Snapper moving into the river. Now’s the time of the year to target these, fresh bait and a lot of patience required to land one.
While you’re on the water it may pay to troll some lures past the fare well beacons as we have heard that a few Kingfish have been reported in the area.
EAST COAST
Species: Mako Shark.
As the warmer water starts to push down the East Coast of Tasmania the Mako sharks start to appear.
One of Tasmania’s great sports fish the Mako shark is not for the faint hearted. If you do want to target the Makos the best way is to set up a large burley trail to attract the shark to the boat and rig your line with a large fresh bait.
LAKE LEAKE
Species: Brown Trout.
For the fresh water enthusiast, with some of the popular lakes up the central highlands closed in anticipation of the world fly fishing championships, Lake Leake provides a perfect change of scenery
Fishing well recently on Hard Body lures.
