ST HELENS
Species: Mako Sharks.
The St Helens Game Fishing Club Shark competition was held over the weekend. With 41 boats entering, the boat ramps were operating at maximum capacity.
Plenty of Makos about with 7 weighed in and 15 tagged and released.
Shawn Gray on board “The Bill Collector” taking out the prize for heaviest overall shark at 129.4KG and “Offline” taking out the prize for highest point score tag and release.
BRIDPORT
Species: Yellowtail Kingfish.
Located in the middle of Andersons Bay at Bridport is Southern Cross Reef, a great place to fish for a wide range of species.
In recent weeks Yellow Tail Kingfish have been calling the reef home. Trolling lures at higher speeds (9 knots) and lobbing large poppers over the reef.
TAMAR RIVER
Species: King George Whiting.
The Tamar River is alive with King George Whiting. Anglers reporting fish from the Kelso Flats all the way down to the Hillwood Pontoon.
Running hook rig with fresh bait or the Hayabusa whiting rigs working well.
