Tamar Marine Fishing Report - 6 November 2019 - Tamar Marine: Boating, Fishing & Marine Gear

Tamar Marine Fishing Report – 6 November 2019

A long weekend up the north of the state provided ample opportunity for anglers to get out and try their luck.

LOW HEAD

Species: Squid.

Squid season officially reopened last week and it’s off to a flyer. The best part of fishing for Squid at Low Head is you don’t need a boat to target them. Fishing off the break wall and casting towards a few of the seaweed beds is a recipe for success.

Fluro Yellow/Green and Pink/White squid jigs working a treat.

SCHOUTEN ISLAND

Species: Striped Trumpeter.

Much like the Squid season, Striped Trumpeter season reopened over the past week but unfortunately you will need a boat for this one.

One of Tasmania’s prized eating fish, best targeted around some sort of drop offs or reef edges and at depths of around 40 – 150m.

Lumo Jig Rigs rigged with fresh bait the best way to land one.

NORTH COAST

Species: Flathead and Gummy Shark.

The ever popular Flathead and Gummy Shark fishing well along the North Coast.

A simple yet effective bottom rig with 2 or 3 hooks rigged with fresh bait the easiest and cheapest way to land either species.
