One of the inland fisheries that’s open all year round is Great Lake on the Central Highlands. A great winter fishery that has been fishing well for Brown Trout over the past couple of weeks.
If you can brave the elements and cant wait for the Trout season to open at the end of this month then Great Lake should be your go to destination.
KELSO
Species: King George Whiting.
The Kelso flats are still the place to be if your after a great feed of King George Whiting with some impressive sized fish being caught over the past couple of weeks. Hayabusa Whiting Rigs a sure fire way to catch your bag.
EAGLEHAWK NECK
Species: Bluefin Tuna.
Plenty of Schoolies still swimming around Eaglehawk Neck and its surrounding landmarks. Tasmania’s Minister for Fisheries was also in on the action this week, enjoying a day out on another Eaglehawk Neck Icon – The Big Pig.
The Draft Tasmanian Recreational Sea Fishing Strategy is now open for public comment.
